SongSailor (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Email address — used to deliver your finished song and any service updates relating to your order.
- Order details — the recipient's name, occasion, story and preferences you submit through our wizard, used to generate your song.
- Payment data — processed securely by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or full payment details on our servers.
- Technical data — basic logs (IP address, browser, timestamps) used for security and to keep the service running.
How we use your data
- To create and deliver the song you ordered.
- To send transactional emails (order confirmation, delivery, support).
- To process your payment via Stripe.
- To respond to support enquiries you send us.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Lawful basis
We process your data on the basis of contract (delivering the song you paid for), legal obligation (tax and accounting records), and legitimate interests (running and securing the service).
Who we share data with
We share data only with the providers we need to deliver the service:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Anthropic — generating your song lyrics.
- Supabase — secure storage of your order and song files.
- Omnisend — sending the email containing your finished song.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
How long we keep it
Order records are retained for as long as required for accounting and tax purposes (typically six years in the UK). Generated songs are retained so that you and your gift recipient can access your private link indefinitely. You can request deletion at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at team@songsailor.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Cookies
We use only essential cookies needed to keep the site working (e.g. session and payment flow). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
