Choral Music Links

Below are some links to our chorus music. They take a very long time to download, but once you have finished the download they will be easier to open next time.  The recording program has created some skips in the music.  Just ignore the skips.  This music is good for learning your part at home and for starting to memorize the lyrics on your own.

General Music Updates

Updated 1/16/08

Kindergarten Kindergarten has begun transferring do, re, mi’s to letter names on the staff.

Grade 1 – Grade 1 is learning how to describe and identify different kinds of notes including the quarter, eighth, half and sixteenth note.  They have also been singing in triple time instead duple time recently to feel the difference.

Grade 2 – Grade 2 is learning how to break music into phrases and sections, along with rhythm syllables.  Most recently they have been square dancing to differentiate sections of music.

Grade 3 –Grade 3 students need to always bring a pencil recorder and lesson book to class.  Please help them with this by keeping these items stored in their school bag so that they always get back to school.

Grade 4 – Grade 4 is just beginning to learn a repertoire of American folk songs and history related material to work with the 4th grade history curriculum.

Grade 5 – Grade 5 has gone through a quick overview of medieval, classical and baroque music.  They are beginning to learn about ¾ time and will shortly be waltzing.

Grade 6Grade 6 is using specific intervals to compose music which they will make final drafts in the Finale computer music program and play on the glockenspiels

Grade 7 Ask them the difference between major and minor and about key signatures.  They should be able to tell you about these items.  Shortly grade 7 will be venturing into the world of blues.

Grade 8 –Grade 8 is writing school spirit songs.  They will be submitted for judging.  The finalist will be kept as the official Thomas Prince School Spirit song.
